Can my puppy eat adult food?

I own an adult choc. lab and i just got a alaskan malamute puppy. My lab is on adult food, and the puppy prefers that over his own puppy food. If they keep eating eachothers food they get the runs. Is it okay to just give my puppy adult food? or is he still way to young.
