Why do my upper k9 teeth hurt all of a sudden?

its not a cavity it only hurts when its touched or i eat. But it comes and goes at random. Its only my upper teeth. I was told by my dentist that its a sinus toothache that happens to people like me. my k9 roots are in my sinuses. What could it be?
