How long until my package clears customs through UPS?

I ordered a pair of Nike ID shoes and they shipped from china. They reached Louisville, KY I live in Denver, CO, they updated the site and now it says exeption and that this shipment is warehoused until it is released by Clearing Agency. It has said this since 8:45 on the 2nd. What does this mean and when should I get my package?
