What might be wrong with my internet?

It clearly is a software problem. Did you recently install a program that would conflict with a web browser? That is a tricky situation. It may have been a windows update? My suggestions is installing Firefox and IE or any browser for that matter. But I would use the system restore feature to revert your computer back before this happened.
