How do you get people to like metal?

okay, im a 17 yrs old metalhead but the college i go to, is full of preps and some chavs and typical people. im the only person with metal taste in music. My friend who is very popular with girls told me that they were having a conversation about me and the girls seemed to agree on liking metal as a turnoff for a boyfriend. i felt totally hurt because people are so damn judgemental and narrow minded but i really love this girl there and i dont think i have a chance with her because of my style but i always dream that one day she will see the beauty of metal and can relate to me and then we can get together.
